Beginning Band – for students as young as fifth grade (10 years old as of July 1, 2024) with little to no experience on a wind or percussion instrument.
Concert Band – for students who have played a wind or percussion instrument for at least one year. Most students will spend two years in this band before moving up a level.
Symphonic Band – for students who have played a wind or percussion instrument for at least three years and completed a successful audition with Mr. Bratcher. Students can continue at this level until high school graduation.
Jazz Band – for students in Symphonic Band who also want to learn to play in various jazz styles. Participation is by audition in the previous Spring or Summer. Students who play jazz guitar, bass, drum set, or piano can also join jazz band without participating in Symphonic Band.
Guitar 1 – for students as young as fifth grade (10 years old as of July 1, 2024) with little to no experience on acoustic or classical guitar.
Guitar 2 – for students who have played acoustic or classical guitar for at least one year. Most students will spend two years at this level before progressing upwards.
Guitar 3 – for students who have played acoustic or classical guitar for at least three years and completed a successful audition with Mr. Bratcher. Students can continue at this level until high school graduation.
BasiCamps – three, six week classes that explore recorder, ukulele, and bucket drumming. These classes are intended to introduce students to the instruments and basic music reading. Recommended for students ages 9-10, but older students and parents are welcome.
Ukulele – a semester long class that extends the curriculum and skills of the Ukulele BasiCamp. Some experience required. Ages 9 and up. NO CLASS OPTION IN 2024-25.
World Music Drumming – a semester long class that explores drums and music from the Caribbean, Latin America, and Africa. No experience necessary. Ages 9 and up. NO CLASS OPTION IN 2024-25.
